Not kidding, when I was 12 we lost a cat by forgetting to bring him inside one very cold winter night.

Also not kidding: his name was Sherbet.

Look at the snow drift.

The snow has drifted on Nan.

Nan will not be running naked through the neighborhood anymore.

I think Ross looks carefully at the pictures. The snowdrift isn't against the doorframe, as it would be if no frozen cat was present.

My cats are used to being outside no mater the temperature. If you keep cat outside at least for the night it will have much denser fur and it won't feel the cold (-20 Celsius didn't leave an impression on my cat once, I was afraid it won't survive the night). On the other hand - if the cat has thin fur because it's sleeps inside in hot room it could die left outside in cold.
