This picture looks a little dark on its own! What kind of children's book features a car crash?

I'm going to make a wild guess about the original. It's not a crash; the car is just stopped at the side of the road to change a flat tire. The telephone pole just happened to be right next to where it stopped.

How'd I do?

Chip's father once saw a kid doing the same thing: waving. He was driving Chip to school.

salvage
If he hurries, Chip may salvage some valuables from the crash before the ambulance arrives.

There's a guy in my hometown who does this every single day for hours and hours. He's very emphatic about it, as though his is a task of utmost urgency.

I wave back every now and then.
