Nah, better as is. The whole of adulthood is conspiring with father, through the medium of a supposedly impartial referenece work like a dictionary, to maintain the lie.

Personally, I would have used a word like "reassure".
Father reassured Hannah.
Hannah feels reassured.
It was definitely the tooth fairy that touched her all night.
Pixies
Hannah has been seeing Pixies all morning.
She will not sample Grandmothers pills again.
I shall never think of the tooth fairy the same way again. Aghast!

It *does* work the way it is, because those who don't believe in a supernatural Tooth Fairy have their own understanding of who the real Tooth Fairy is. So Father *is* being honest, which is even more troubling.
Your version takes us by surprise because we weren't expecting the World According to Father - but we don't come here to avoid being surprised.
It's also more than a little off, but that's undoubtedly what we come here for!
Yes, yes! Of course it works -- I was wrong above. I'm so slow! Father IS the tooth fairy so he really is being honest. Great! I'm glad I finally twigged.
Hilarious just the way that it is. "Dishonest" would have been funny too, but I don't think it would have had quite the same dark undertone.
Callisto's definition with the Pixies was divine! But what would the word be? How about "See" as in:
Hannah has been *seeing* Pixies all morning.
Hannah *sees* she has made an error.
She will not sample Grandmother's pills again.
This is brilliant, just the laugh I needed.
Escape
Herman managed to escape from the first one.
He was able to get away.
Sadly, he did not escape from the second crocodile.
Forget about the tooth fairy, its Father Christmas going up the chimney Hannah needs to worry about.
